The narrative being perpetuated by the Left and the media from last night’s resounding GOP victory is that it was a referendum on incumbency. According to the Left, the thumpin’ Obama’s party took is in no way a reflection on the policies the Democrats have passed over the last two years. Rather, the Left claims that the pressing issue this election was an overriding dislike of incumbents. The ‘anti-incumbent’ canard is essentially the same storyline that was used to delegitimize the 1994 Republican Revolution. The logical follow-up question to that theory is: why were voters angry at incumbents, specifically Democrat incumbents?

The fact that last night’s election was a referendum on Obamunism is so obvious only the mainstream media could miss it. In 2008, Americans were duped into voting for someone who claimed to be a centrist. Candidate Obama promised to end the partisan divide (remember “no red-state America, no blue-state America, only a United States of America?”) Since his ascension to the Presidency, Barack Obama has been the most bitterly partisan president in American history. In his first two years in office, President Obama passed his failed Stimulus bill and Obamacare. Both bills were passed on a near strict party line vote.

Last night was the first opportunity the American people had to vote on the real, deeply partisan, socialist, Barack Obama and the voters overwhelmingly rejected Barack Obama’s radically partisan socialistic agenda. The GOP was elected to stand athwart Obama and yell “stop!” Republicans picked up over 60 seats in the House yesterday. That is the single biggest gain any party has achieved in over half a century. Obama’s socialism has been rebuked. People did not elect the GOP to get along with the President. Voters do not want the GOP to offer the lite version of Obamunsim; they want the complete and total opposite of out-of-control spending and a metastasizing federal leviathan.

The Republican Party has been given chance; a chance to stop Obama’s radical agenda. Regardless of what the media says, this election was a referendum on the policies of the last two years. The worst thing the GOP could do is moderate and compromise. Republicans have been given a mandate by the American people to obstruct Obama’s radical socialist agenda.

With communists the world over admitting that their system is a failure, the United States is still being driven down the path of socialistic ruin by the Democratic Party. Albert Einstein defined insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” By that definition, the Obama administration, and the Democratic Party are either insane, or intentionally destructive.

This week in Milwaukee, President Obama revealed his latest plan to revitalize the economy. According to the President, his new six-year plan to spend $50,000,000,000 on “roads, railways and airports” will save the economy. If the $787,000,000,000 didn’t help initiate a recovery why will an additional $50 billion? The answer is it wont. The new stimulus will be as useless as the old one. Why not give freedom a chance? Obama has announced that he will allow the Bush tax-cuts to expire for small businesses and top income earners – the entities that hire people. Instead of another destined for failure government boondoggle, the President and his party should let earners keep their money and initiate growth. That will never happen. The Democrats are more interested in establishing a permanent underclass, dependent on government largess, and thus, loyal Democrat voters than actually creating an environment conducive to an economic recovery.

When Barack Obama was elected he promised a ‘new type of politics.’ Critics were constantly harangued for practicing the ‘old type of politics.’ In reality, President Obama has offered the same old socialist ideas that have never worked in the past – ever. In addition, Obama practices the ‘old politics’ he so derided in 2008. He puts together slush funds, like these stimuli programs, in order to pay back favors and allow his party to ‘bring back the bacon’ to their home districts. Barack Obama the myth was a centrist uniter that stood above the fray and promised a new, more open style of politics. Barack Obama the man is a hardcore ideologue, hell-bent on imposing his socialist vision on the United States, all while engaging in the political corruption one would expect from an Illinois Democrat.

If the Democrats really wanted to kick-start an American recovery they would get out of the way. They would cut taxes, cut government spending and cut the red tape of regulation. Instead, President Obama has accumulated more debt in 19 months than Presidents Washington through Reagan did over the first 200 years of American history. The Democrats are the anti-freedom party. They are arrogant know-it-alls that think you are incapable of making the most elementary decisions in your life. To say they spend like drunken sailors is unfair to drunken sailors – at least drunken sailors spend their own money! As for the latest absurdity, another so-called stimulus bill, Charles Krauthammer had the best repose:

Remember when Barack Obama used to say thing like “this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal”? He was the candidate of hope, of change, of the future. His minions claimed that he would bring in a new age of togetherness, that he could reach across the aisle. He was the man of no no Red or Blue states. Of course, that was all a hoax and he is a doctrinaire Marxist, which should not have surprised anyone who bothered to look at the man’s associations. However, it is still amusing to see how far Obama’s rhetoric has fallen.

At a campaign rally speech in Wisconsin, President Obama observed that unemployment has stagnated at nearly 10%, even though his administration promised that the Stimulus bill would halt unemployment at 8%. Obama’s response to the evidence that his economic policies have been a complete and total failure: “Things aren’t as bad as they could have been, this could have been a catastrophe, in that sense it [the stimulus] worked…unemployment’s at 9.6%…but it’s not 12 or 13 or 15.” That sure sounds like the much maligned “politics of cynicism” Obama railed against. In fact, a cynic might say that the entire ‘hope and change’ campaign was a textbook example in the politics of cynicism.

The Obama administration has been a futile socialist experiment. Obama sycophants denounced Republicans for being stuck in the “old politics,” not accepting the new age ideas of The One. However, despite Obama’s rhetoric, it is his party that is stuck ion the past. See if this sounds familiar: “we’ve sought to solve the problems of unemployment through government planning, and the more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.” That was said by Ronald Reagan in 1964 about the Johnson administration, but it could have been said by Sarah Palin last week about the Obama administration. The porkulus bill cost nearly $1 trillion and unemployment is still 10%. The solution: another stimulus. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac created the housing bubble. Solution: encourage them to continue their risky behavior. The government keeps on making new plans, to correct old plans, that invariably consist of throwing boatloads of money, that the country doesn’t have, at Democrat constituencies. But hey, at least unemployment isn’t “12 or 13 or 15.” Obama has been an unmitigated disaster – the number don’t lie. When defending his record in this year’s midterm elections and eventually in 2012 gone will be the false promises of ‘hope’ and ‘change,’ replaced by “it could be worse!”

Barry and the gang sure have their priorities in order. The gulf oil spill? Not doing much about that besides orchestrating a shakedown and finding other people to blame. The economy? Since the porkulus bill passed and Obama engaged his “laser-like focus” on jobs, unemployment has shot up to 10%, where it has remained. Spending? Every day it seems like some new harebrained spending scheme is hatched in the White House. Thankfully, the Obama administration has identified one serious problem: illegal aliens are not getting paid their fair share:

To clarify, you did just see Obama’s Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, tell illegal aliens that there is a taxpayer funded hot-line they can call to ensure that they are being paid in accordance with the law. Seeing how illegal aliens, by definition, are in violation of the law, why is the government assisting them at all? Shouldn’t ICE show up if illegals call a government phone number and identify themselves as being in the country illegally? If Charles Manson had called the IRS hot-line would they have just assisted him?

The Obama administration could not be more out if touch with the American people if they tried. The economy is in shambles. The Democrats have greatly increased government spending, and continue to raise the minimum wage. At the same time, Democrats are encouraging more people to accept government ‘assistance.’ You’d almost think that this was a deliberate plan by the Obama administration to overload the system, cause an even greater disaster, then use the resulting calamity to “fundamentally transform” the United States. Now where have I heard that before?

…in an election year.

ABC News reports:

President Obama has had two major messages for Congress in recent months: Keep the focus on jobs and the economy, and get serious about runaway spending.

His problem now is that they’re starting to listen to him on the second point — at the expense of the first.

In a major shift in congressional politics, Democrats have developed a severe case of sticker shock, just as many of their colleagues press to prime the pump of the economy in time for the mid-term congressional elections.

Now, even popular initiatives with widespread support — notably an extension in unemployment benefits for those who have been out of work for more than a year, plus $50 billion the White House is asking for to help avert state layoffs of teachers and law enforcement officials are stalled inside Congress.

Democrats are between Barack and a hard place. On the one hand, the only reason they are ever elected is to loot the treasury and put as many people on the government dole as possible. On the other hand, with a national debt of over $13 trillion, there is no more money to give away.

After Obama put his “laser-like focus” on job creation, unemployment soared to 10%, where it has remained since the passage of the porkulus bill. Since then, Obama has also passed the largest entitlement bill in American history – health care. Democrats are in the fast lane, driving the United States off a debt cliff. For Democrats to start opposing spending bills now is laughable. While the new proposed $50 billion giveaway being bandied about in Washington ought to be stopped, there is no way Democrats can claim the mantle of fiscal responsibility in 2010.

In 2006 the Democrats ran against the big spending of George W. Bush and the Republicans. The result of their takeover has been a soaring debt, an unsustainable deficit, and a crippled economy. The Democrats have made it clear that given the power, they will spend the country into ruin. The latest hemming and hawing over spending is cynical political posturing, pure and simple.

Have you noticed how well Obama’s stimulus package has worked? People are working again, the economy is booming and the near meltdown of 2008 is all in the past. At least that’s what President Obama would have you believe. In fact, Obama’s position is that the stimulus was so effective, it’s time to spend even more money the country doesn’t have on a new and improved stimulus bill for 2010. The Washington Post reports “President Obama urged reluctant lawmakers Saturday to quickly approve nearly $50 billion in emergency aid to state and local governments.”

Remember all those crazy Republican governors that tried to turn down stimulus money in 2009, saying that the money would artificially inflate their state’s revenue, and create an unsustainable single year increase in spending? Funny thing – they were right. States cannot depend on the federal government to fill their budget shortfalls. The bottom line is there is no money – spendthrift states have to cut back (although, not having any money doesn’t seem to stop the federal government).

Since it is a well known fact that Democrats do not let economic realities get in the way of their agenda, it should be apparent that there is a more insidious plan at play here. The Democrats want to use tax dollars to keep local bureaucrats employed. While Obama may say he is concerned about “police and firefighters,” he is really concerned about teachers and unionized workers. Bailing out the states would ensure that unionized government workers would not lose their jobs, and still be able to pay their union dues. Their dues to unions like the NEA and the purple-shirt mafia known as the SEIU. Care to guess which political party reaps the benefits of politically active and financially sound unions? In a 2006 article entitled “Teachers’ Pets,” the Wall Street Journal reported that the NEA, the largest teacher’s union in the United States, gave away $65 million in political contributions to liberal causes. Included among the recipients of NEA donations were: “Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Amnesty International, AIDS Walk Washington and dozens of other such advocacy groups.” While any person, or organization, should be free to chose where they spend THEIR money, it is an entirely different issue when an organization receives government – taxpayer – dollars. The Democrats are bailing out their constituencies leading up to an election. Moreover, and here is the greatest sin in the entire scheme, the Democrats are funding organizations, with taxpayer dollars, that will surely contribute to Democratic Party efforts in 2010 and 2012. Essentially, through circular financial dealings, the Democrats are funneling tax dollars into their reelection campaigns. This from the “most ethical congress ever.” You could knock me over with a feather.

Ever wonder where all the money is being spent?

How about a beautiful, state of the art, lavish IRS building. The Boston Herald has a story on a $92 million renovation being done on the government building. The IRS “compound” will have: a reflecting pool, an art gallery, indoor gardens, a 7,000 square-foot cafeteria, and an amphitheater. Of the $92 million, $80 million came from Obama’s Stimulus bill. The architect, Jonathan Levi, is slated to get an $8.3 million payday for the project. The building is designed to provide a “comfortable, collaborative environment,” that will foster “community and belonging.” Levi says “it will be welcoming for the people who use it.” And what better use of taxpayer dollars than to build a palace befitting of a French monarch, that will house bureaucrats whose job is to harass American citizens and coerce them into giving ever larger percentages of their hard-earned paychecks to the government? The new building will have room for 2,000 employees. The current staff consists of 900 people, after 1,400 unnecessary workers were laid off last year. In fact, IRS spokesperson Peggy Riley said “nothing has changed since April (when she said it was premature to say whether permanent jobs would come to Andover once construction is complete in August 2012.)”

$92 million on a reflecting pool, an art gallery, indoor gardens, a 7,000 square-foot cafeteria, an amphitheater, and a 2,000 person capacity office for 900 employees. Not a single permanent job created. Hard to figure out why the country is going bankrupt.

The headline on Drudge says it all “Obama redistribution Victory: Private Pay Plummets, Government Handouts Soar.” From the USA Today story:

Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds.

At the same time, government-provided benefits — from Social Security, unemployment insurance, food stamps and other programs — rose to a record high during the first three months of 2010.

Since the Obama regime has taken power, private wages have decreased from 44.6% of the United States’ personal income to 41.9%. At the same time, 8 million Americans have lost their jobs and become wards of the state. This is the Obama plan – to destroy the United States’ free market system and replace it with a European style welfare state – like Greece. Through programs like the stimulus package, Obama is enlarging the dependency class, people who are “paid for being rather than for producing,” as the Hoover Institute’s David Henderson said. These dependents have no incentive to go out and work. They can stay home and rely on government largess, funded by the shrinking percentage of Americans that still work. The dependency class is a permanent Democratic voting block, because the Democrats promise ever expanding benefits to dependents. This cycle of dependency and resulting unsustainable government spending is what brought down Greece, what is destroying Europe, and what is bankrupting the United States. Chairman O is waging an all-out war on the private sector, threatening to “keep his boot on the neck” of private companies. In reality, that boot is on the neck of the entire free market system, and is suffocating the republic.

Remember all the way back in 2008 when Barack Obama promised ‘no more politics as usual’? Today, the president plans to nuke that promise. President Obama is going to pursue the nuclear option (so derided by Democrats when they were in the minority) on health care (which would require 51 votes in the Senate as opposed to 60). His reasoning? Everyone does it! Guess who Obama is going to blame for this one….. you nailed it! None other than George W. Bush. It’s so nice to be living in the era of hope and change, with the new politics of Obamalot. The man of hope, who was going to end the practice of ‘politics as usual’ is using ‘politics as usual’ as his justification to ram through a bill anywhere between 58% and 52% of Americans do not want.

How else does The One plan on ramming this bill through? If you guessed scare tactics you’re today’s lucky winner. President Obama plans on painting a picture of the world where health care premiums skyrocket and everyone is at the mercy of evil insurance companies, unless his health care plan is nuked through the Senate immediately. Where else have we heard this chicken-little story that if a bill is not passed immediately the sky is going to fall? The o so necessary TARP and Porkulus bills. How have those two gems worked out? Everything is an emergency. Everything needs to be passed NOW! before anyone can read it. If legislation is not passed we’re always supposed to believe that the sky in fact will fall.

The President and his Congress have an ever expanding credibility gap. They make promises they have no intention of keeping and they are trying to enact some of the most unpopular legislation in American history. The American people do not want government-run health care, which is what any Democrat health care bill will lead to. Not now, not ever
