But in circumstances like this, everyone knows that she was given the choice: quit or be fired.

I have to give credit to Hearst News Group for doing the right thing. However, it has been a long time coming. After a lifetime of incredibly biased reporting, it took this sudden honest outburst to get rid of her.

To put Helen Thomas’s comments into context – she was talking to a Rabbi on the day of the White House’s Official Celebration of Jewish Heritage. The transcript is posted below:

Rabbi: Any comments on Israel?

Thomas: Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.

Rabbi: Any better comments on Israel?

Thomas: Remember, these people are occupied. And it’s their land. Not German, it’s not Poland.

Rabbi: Where should they go? What should they do?

Thomas: Go home.

Rabbi: Where’s Home?

Thomas: Poland, Germany, and America, and everywhere else.

The scary thing is that this story would have never been reported if it was not for the Drudge Report and Conservative Bloggers.

The Times Online (from UK) reported:

Her remarks were scarcely reported at first, but when posted on the Drudge Report website at the weekend they provoked a storm of controversy in which outraged accusations of anti-Semitism quickly drowned out defenders of free speech.

The Times also reported on the fallout for Helen Thomas:

By yesterday morning Ms Thomas had been dropped by her speaker’s bureau, disowned by the co-author of her latest book and called an “anti-Semitic bigot” by Lanny Davis, a former close friend and Clinton administration lawyer.

She had also agreed not to give a graduation ceremony address as planned at a high school in suburban Maryland where one parent predicted she would have been booed off the stage.

But none of this would have happened if the mainstream media could of had its way – and ignored this story.

The message is clear – read the blogs and the drudge report. Because if you don’t, the liberal mainstream media will only report the stories that suit its left wing agenda.

In between providing unbiased reporting for Hearst Newspapers (San Francisco Chronicle, etc.), Helen Thomas also has time to tell us what she thinks.

That’s right – Helen Thomas said that Jews should return to Poland and Germany.

Of course, the problem isn’t really that Helen Thomas is anti-Israel. It is that the entire progressive movement is anti-Israel.

Does it really surprise you that the United States recently supported a UN Security Council Resolution which condemned the recent Israeli flotilla raid?

The ‘activists’ on the flotilla were breaking the Israeli blockade on Gaza. Israel was simply protecting its borders.

It’s no wonder that Helen Thomas and President Obama get along so well.
