Change You Can Believe In: Obamacare Repealed, 245-189

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted 245-189 to repeal Obamacare. The overwhelming majority, which included three Democrats, sent an unmistakable message to Democrats, and the voting public.

Harry Reid, claims that there will not be a vote in the Senate to repeal Obamacare because it’s just too popular to vote on: “not only would repeal not pass, but according to a poll by AP over the weekend, three out of four people don’t want it to.” Complete and utter nonsense from the Senate Majority Leader.

The truth of the matter is that Senator Reid cannot be sure that repeal would fail in the Democrat controlled Senate. With the evident popularity of the repeal movement, the Democrats cannot afford a vote on the bill. If the bill fails to pass the Senate, so-called blue-dog Democrats would once again be forced to show their true socialist colors. If a repeal bill were to pass, President Obama would veto the bill, further alienating himself from the electorate.

The repeal vote is a bold and necessary move from the House Republicans. Now the real work begins: dismantling the monstrosity of Obamacare piece by piece.

Democrats to Push Amnesty in Lame-Duck Session

ABC News is reporting that in the last days of the Democrat fiefdom, the Pelosi, Reid, Obama troika are planning on ramming amnesty through the Congress.

The move to rush through the DREAM ACT illustrates that the Democrats understand that it was their agenda that was rejected by the voters this year. The Democrats are aware of the fact that most Americans reject their socialist vision. Instead of trying to convince the American people that socialism works, the Democrats want to legalize millions of new Democrat voters.

The Democratic Party is at war with the American way of life. They reject and want to disown the legacy and style of government drawn up by the Founders. In place of the Constitution, the Left wants to move in the direction of Western European socialism. In fact, that it exactly what Howard Dean said in his post-election analysis.

While the Democrats have done their best to “fundamentally transform” the United States, they have reached the limit. This November, voters put up a wall. The voting public saw the direction the Democrats were marching in and said a resounding ‘NO!’ to socialism. Democrats are many things, but politically incapable they are not. They see the writing on the wall. They were routed in the midterms, President Obama’s approval rating is stuck in the 40s, 26% of voters think the President will be reelected, and only 38% think Obama should be reelected. Not too much to be optimistic about for Democrats in 2012.

What if the Democrats could add a few million voters to the rolls in time for the election? That is what amnesty is about. It is a pure political calculation by the Democrats. The Democrats believe that the newly legalized voters will be another exploitable constituency. That is why the Democrats are champing at the bit to rush through amnesty, an immensely unpopular policy, in a Congress that has already lost the confidence of the American people.

Media Coverage of Sarah Palin v. Kirsten Gillibrand

Remember in 2008 when the media reported that Republican staffers accused the Palins of being “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast”? That very same media that ran headlines like “RNC shells out $150K for Palin fashion,” “Palin Clothes Spending Has Dems Salivating, Republicans Disgusted,” and “Sarah Palin’s Shopping Spree: Yes, There’s More...” As it turned out, tales of the Palin’s shopping sprees were proved to be utterly false. However, in a move shocking to none, the media is singing a different tune when it comes to a Democrat’s shopping habits.

November’s edition of Vogue magazine (otherwise known as ‘the bible’ over at Strictly Pop) has a six-page spread featuring Harry Reid’s “hottest member” of the Senate, Kirsten Gillibrand. Politico reports that:

The Vogue feature shows a different side of the senator, too: On one recent evening, Gillibrand hit Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan for Fashion’s Night Out, where she tried on clothes, chatted up designers and even hit the dance floor where, as Van Meter puts it, “she cut it up like a seasoned pro.”

Isn’t that nice. So happy to hear that Sen. Gillibrand enjoyed her “fashion night out,” whatever that means. When conservatives buy clothes they are ‘out of touch’ and insensitive to the plight of the indigent. When liberals go on shopping sprees they are lauded.

Jonathan Van Meter, who wrote the Vogue story, commented “She wasn’t worried about how it was going to be perceived, and I loved how she wasn’t concerned about that. Some women lawmakers refuse to be fashionable and [Vogue Editor-in-Chief] Anna Wintour thinks, ‘Well, why can’t you be?’” Now we’re heaping adulation on politicians that don’t care about how their actions will be interpreted by their constituents. One can only wonder what Mario Cuomo thinks about Sen. Gillibrand’s lack of compassion.

The media double standard is once again on full display. Sarah Plain is described as an unfit mother because she entered politics. On the other hand, Nancy Pelosi ‘balanced the country on one knee, her family on the other’ when she was elected Speaker in 2006. The Palins were smeared for the RNC buying outfits for them, without the consent of Palins. Meanwhile, the left reports on how wonderful it is that Sen. Gillibrand is getting her ‘close-up.’

Where Did All That money Come From Harry?

In last night’s debate Sharron Angle “mopped the floor” with Harry Reid, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

If you didn’t get a chance to see the debate, the Senate Majority Leader looked as effete as ever. Adding his signature charming touch, Reid looked as though it was beneath him to have to actually debate a challenger.

Meanwhile, Sharron Angle challenged Reid on his ultra-liberal voting record. Reid is another ‘Blue Dog’ who is elected from Red/Purple state, but represents San Francisco. In reality, there is not a dime’s worth of difference between Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

Despite the economic collapse that Reid and his ilk have orchestrated, Senator Reid has grown immensely wealthy while in the Senate. Starting from humble beginnings in Searchlight, Nevada, entirely on the salary of a public servant Reid has become one of the richest members of the United States Senate. Where did all that money come from? In the video below, Sharron Angle nails Reid on that specific issue:

The Party of Retreat and Defeat Declares Victory

The most common takeaway from President Obama’s speech last night was that it was meandering and boring. While that is true, as Obama somehow managed to talk about the economy and Afghanistan in a speech allegedly marking the conclusion of the Iraq War, it misses the point of one of the most galling speeches in presidential history. In his address, the President announced:

…tonight, I am announcing that the American combat mission in Iraq has ended. Operation Iraqi Freedom is over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country.

This was my pledge to the American people as a candidate for this office. Last February, I announced a plan that would bring our combat brigades out of Iraq, while redoubling our efforts to strengthen Iraq’s Security Forces and support its government and people. That is what we have done. We have removed nearly 100,000 U.S. troops from Iraq.  We have closed or transferred hundreds of bases to the Iraqis. And we have moved millions of pieces of equipment out of Iraq.

This completes a transition to Iraqi responsibility for their own security…

It is truly sickening to see this man, President Obama, who stood against the troops, against the mission, and against his country, take credit for the work of the previous administration and the sacrifices made by the genuine heroes that comprise United States  and coalition forces.

Hoping to score cheap political points, the Democrats demoralized and demonized the men and women defending freedom in Iraq. Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid famously said “this war [Iraq] is lost.” 2004 Democrat nominee for president, Senator John Kerry, accused American troops of “going into the home of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, women…” There was John Murtha who described American Marines in Haditha as “murderers.” Murtha’s “murderers” were all later exonerated. Senator Dick Durban compared U.S. troops to “Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags, or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others, that had no concern for human beings..” And of course there was candidate Obama in 2008, who said that U.S. troops were “air raiding villages and killing civilians.” The video below documents who supported the troops – and who did NOT:

The party of retreat and defeat opposed the surge in Iraq, lambasted General Petraeus when he testified to the success of the strategy, and spread vicious lies about the previous administration. The Democrats have called the troops stupid, they’ve maligned Americans who put their lives on the line every day as torturers and common thugs. Now President Obama wants to take credit for their great work. Last night’s victory speech came from the man who represents the greatest obstacle to American militarily victory: the Democratic Party. The United States succeeded in Iraq in spite of Obama and in spite of his treacherous party.

Obama finally being impeached

Today marks a historic day in America. Not long after President Barack Obama signed into effect the biggest government takeover of the economy in the history of the United States, it seems that the unconstitutional act of Congress is being repealed today. In a joint press release from the offices of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, two historic supporters of Obama’s plans for healthcare reform, said:

The plan for health care reform was initially something that the Democratic Party had long been campaigning for as a way to ensure that the American people were well-protected. As time went on, it became apparent that this reform was not in the will of the American people at all. However, in pure stubbornness, this administration persisted in pushing the legislation forward.

At a press conference, Nancy Pelosi had a different take on the matter, however:

I don’t really believe that any one person was responsible for this. I said from the start that Americans would only be able to find out what’s in the bill if it passed. And while I was initially skeptical, Barry [Soetoro] made it quite clear that Botox procedures would be covered. It was a no-brainer at that point.

While these statements from Reid and Pelosi are in and of themselves incredible, nothing comes close to the iconic moment in history created when all Members of Congress and their staff (with the exception of Barney Frank and a young page) showed up at a rally with a petition to impeach Obama for a new subsection of the constitution called “Impeachment by Stupidity,” citing that the Stalinist approach to American governance was a trial project, and has failed miserably.

Barack Obama was unavailable for comment, though in an email from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Strictly Right received the following comment:

Andrew, this is nothing more than 8 years of the Bush administration’s bad policies catching up on the American people. President Obama is not worried, though he’s hoping for change.

P.S. Meet me in the Congressional shower in 20 minutes?

At least some people will get turned on by the Democrats

As much as I love blogging about Ann Coulter (seriously, I love it) I figured that the 1% of you who don’t care may appreciate some news about a Strictly Right favorite, healthcare!

You all know that healthcare passed in the House last week by the tiniest of margins, through using reconciliation. With that, you may not have known that even the tiniest amendment to the bill would result in the bill having to be sent back to Congress to get voted on. Well, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) didn’t disappoint, putting forth an amendment to not provide Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs to sex offenders. If the Democrats vote “yes” on this amendment, they have to re-vote on the entire bill (and they risk alienating their ex-con support base.) But, if they vote “no” Allahpundit raises the million dollar question:

How long after they vote on the Viagra amendment before we see a YouTube ad asking, “Why does Harry Reid want to give rapists erections”?

My Favorite 2010 Commercial

It would truly be spectacular if Harry Reid got “Daschled.” This ad is great, and it shows that once again, the Gipper was right. If you live in or are in Nevada between March 27 and April 15 make sure to check out the Tea Party Express III’s campaign against Dingy Harry (and try to head out to the March 27th ‘Showdown in Searchlight‘, which will feature Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter, among many).

PS – check out Danny Tarkanian’s website – he’s running for the GOP nod in Nevada to take out Reid and I think he’s the best, most electable, and more importantly, most conservative candidate in the race.
