Dan Kellar: The tale of Waterloo’s Marxist thug

By now, everyone’s aware of the successful attempt a few weeks back of a group of three “students” at the University of Waterloo who set out to silence author and columnist Christie Blatchford for her “hateful” book, Helpless, documenting the trials and tribulations of land owners and freedom activists in Caledonia over the past years.

In a nutshell, three protesters chained themselves to the podium that Christie was to speak from. The police were called and said that Christie couldn’t go on stage if the protesters were still there, but the school wouldn’t allow the police to remove them. As such, the event was canceled, and the communist thugs won.

Now, we know that the “lead” protester is a PhD student (in environmental studies) at the University of Waterloo…Dan Kellar. Except, not really. Between lying about his student status for sympathy (granted, I think knowing someone’s a grad student actually makes me like them less,) Dan blogs and podcasts.

In a recent podcast, Dan stated that “We are proud to have stopped this racist apologist from further disseminating her lies, and we firmly pledge to be present at the rescheduling of [Christie Blatchford's speaking] event in order to continue our campaign against Christie.” He further pushes forth the idea that she won’t be permitted to speak at other points in the podcast.

Leaked Facebook messages between a reader and Kellar show that he is nothing more than an anarchist who actually opposes the police arresting members of the Black Bloc during the Toronto G20 summit.

Given the length of the exchange, I’ll only be posting select messages. None of this distorts the actual context of what was said: I’m more than happy to send out the full exchange of people are interested.

If what Christie has written could be categorized as Hate Speech, then by all means call the cops and have her charged with violating sections 318-320 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

If it does not meet this definition, then by all means write a paper that rebuts her argument, send letters to various newspapers, have a sit in and bang drums on the front lawn if you must.

i do not support the use of cops, cops are a violent gang of murderers and rapists (when in uniform at least), and they have no place in a civilized society. a prof recently printed a rebuke of christie’s work, in an academic journal, and is now being sued. we take our responsibility to stop racists very importantly and will not wait for the dominant powers to act.

Dan Kellar November 21 at 10:45pm Report

this is what you will not get from your mainstream “journalists” and our racist education system, it keeps people ignorant. it is because of people like christie that people will ignore what the indigenous live through until this day. she has a pulpit to preach from and not a critical voice is allowed to be published in response. she denies history and wraps up racism in national security and breaches of our invalid “law”

you ask for alternatives to capitalism, but you dont recognize it as a working system either. while i cant point you to a working global system of economic governance there are two points to make here:

people from colonial backgrounds have been deciding what is the “best” system for everyone for too long. let us sit back and listen to what the indigenous people tell us will work. if you accept capitalism as a failure then why keep it around? best of the worst is not acceptable. maybe minds that have not been colonized (instructed in dominance), should be the ones that get to make the decisions for a while… we certainly failed at it.

So, there you have it folks. The problem isn’t Christie Blatchford — it’s all a part of the big racist, colonialist conspiracy. Everyone should support Christie, and tell Dan Kellar how you feel.

Brilliance from the CBC

Running a nation-wide advertising campaign telling people that you’re transparent: Priceless

Sun Media’s Brian Lilley reports:

Under attack for its lack of transparency and accountability, the CBC has taken out expensive ads in newspapers across Canada, promising Canadians that they will be up-front with information.A series of reports this week from QMI Agency have highlighted the CBC’s refusal to release information under the Access to Information Act, and their ongoing court battle with the Information Commissioner, an independent officer of Parliament over who gets to see those documents.

While the ad boasts of tens of thousands of pages released under Access to Information, it fails to mention that tens of thousands of pages have also been released with all relevant information removed, the result being either blank pages or pages covered in black marker.

The CBC continues to claim exemptions under sections designed to protect their journalistic activities or protect the government on issues vital to the economic interests of Canada. As a result, they refuse to answer simple questions such as how many trucks the state broadcaster owns.

[...]

The key phrase is “Documents of interest,” meaning CBC will decide what they release, and what they don’t, for the public to view.

A review of what has been posted on the CBC website shows that hundreds of access requests have been left off the site for now, including expense reports for CBC president Hubert Lacroix. The 110 blank pages supplied to QMI for expenses by board member Louise Lantagne, and the cost of honorariums provided to board members, are also missing.

Lilley also adds that because “CBC spends public dollars and is therefore accountable to the public. That should mean full accountability, including the cost of these ads.” He’s absolutely right. The CBC has a lot to offer as a broadcaster, and as a business (Lord knows to whom, however.) It’s quite simple though: If there was a market for what the CBC offered, it could hold its own in the free market. No private corporations could get away with witholding information like the CBC did. Heck, even the military has a hard time getting away with blacking out that many pages of important documents.

There may have been a time where the CBC was required, but that time has certainly passed.

Feminism vs. Capitalism

I’m actually interested in hearing some of the feedback on this issue. I posted a discussion about this on my Facebook page this evening to see the Libertarians and the Feminists duke it out.

A Hamilton, Ontario woman was breastfeeding her son in the “play area” of her local McDonald’s when the [female] manager on duty approached her and asked her to do it elsewhere (like in the washroom, for example) on the grounds that it was making some of the other customers uncomfortable. Of course, what better way to combat being asked to leave a restaurant than to contact the local press!

In any case, I don’t have any sort of problem with women breastfeeding. It’s natural, it’s normal. That being said, it’s up to any local business owner to ask anyone they’d like to leave for any reason. It’s called the free market. That being said, the free market also allows for mothers to team up and boycot a restaurant that won’t allow women to breastfeed there. Of course, property rights are inevitibly lost upon the left as is any sort of liberty.

The woman’s response was, “This is a restaurant and my child is having his dinner.” Proving that I should not be in customer service, my rebuttal would have been, “outside food and beverages are not permitted. Sorry ma’am.”
