Sued over a link…

Our blogging buddy Blazing Cat Fur got himself into some hot water this week for doing the unthinkable: posting a hyperlink on his blog to Mark Steyn’s website. It seems that the bar for “hate” is getting lower and lower with each passing minute. We used to have to at least work hard before being accused of inciting hatred. BCF could use your help both in spirit and financially (though I would say that your spirit doesn’t help as much with the legal bills.)

You can get the scoop over at his site.

Stop Complaining!

As a warning, this blog post may, in fact, turn into a rant that looks like I’m attacking other conservatives. I’m not looking to “go after” anyone, but this has been weighing on my mind for several months, and a recent Newsbusters piece on Anderson Cooper gave me the ounce of motivation to much my frustration tank into a state of overflow.

So, what attitude of conservatives in the media is bothering me? Well, I’m glad you asked!

Few terms evoke such strong emotions in conservatives nowadays (real ones, not the Murkowski types) as “tea-bagger.” Coined by the bitch evening broadcaster, Rachel Maddow, the phrase has now become common among those in the liberal blogosphere and the liberal pundit world as being the generally accepted way to refer to members of the tea party movement. Is it disrespectful? Yes. Is it gross? Yes. Is it important? Heck no! I enjoy the occasional jabs toward the subjects of my punditry, but I’ve never been too much of a fan of name-calling in either direction. Not that I find it offensive, I just think people get too caught up in the names that they don’t think about the debate. Another issue altogether though.

Conservatives like myself who vehemently oppose political correctness are constantly offering two words of advice to the Left: “lighten up!” With the term “tea-bagger,” why can we not take our own lesson to heart. When Rahm Emanuel used the word “retarded,” I was frustrated when Sarah Palin came out and campaigned so actively against the use of that word when, while it is politically incorrect, it’s not the biggest of our problems in politics today.

If the Left wants to apply a grotesque term to the majority of average, working Americans, let them. As Rush Limbaugh says, “life’s not fair.” We don’t have a natural right to not have our feelings hurt (well, in Canada we kinda do. See “Canadian Human Rights Commission”) so we need to stop whining about being called a name and focus on fighting back.

The Sounds of the Silenced

The official sponsors of the famous Ann Coulter Canadian tour are continuing to promote the cause to bring back free speech to Canada. Now, International Free Press Society – Canada is bringing Connie and Mark Fournier of popular conservative messageboard FreeDominion, victims of censorship by a government agency, to speak about their startling experience with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Ann Coulter Is In Good Company

An intrepid reader e-mailed me this video today:

Canada has a history of idiocy – when Ronaldus Magnus spoke in front of the Canadian government in 1987 degenerate leftists in the government attempted to shout down the President. The left has a despicable history of trying to disallow contrary opinions. These idiots never miss an opportunity to embarrass the country.

As for Ann Coulter, sharing this distinction, of being so feared by the left, with the Gipper ought to be a badge of honor!

A new one for the Human Rights Commission

For once in my life, I’m actually going to give Quebec credit for something! A Muslim girl enrolled in a “transition” class at a CEGEP school in Montreal to help her in the big move from Egypt to Canada. In her class, an executive decision was made to have her remove her Niqab (a Burqa without the screens over the eyes) so that she could participate in the class as all the other students were forced to. After much back and forth between the student, the teacher, the school’s administration and the responsible Ministry in the Quebec government, she was expelled, even after refusing to study online. Given that the Qu’ran doesn’t require the wearing of a Niqab, one can only assume that she was (a) trying to be a pain in the ass; or, (b) trying to hide something. Either way, kudos to the government for showing her the door. Hopefully she won’t face an honor killing by an oppressive, vile Sharia-following father.

(And yes, it was only a matter of time before she decided to file a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. I’m sure that the Jennifer Lynch mob will have some fun as they destroy the life of the school’s principal.)
