  2. Hello!

I just found your podcast by accident a couple weeks ago when I was trying to find some good clips of Mark Steyn after I had the pleasure of seeing him live in Toronto at Steynomite! I’ve only listened to a few podcasts so far and I was excited when you touched on Conservatism in Comedy (or lack there-of). This is a huge untouched topic that I myself am very interested in. I’m a actor/comedian living in Toronto (the heart of socialist Canada) with conservatives values. I have a degree in Economics, served for six years in the Canadian Naval Reserves. I’m an educated conservative man, trying to make a career in the arts. In pretty much _every_ venue, you’ll find that the majority of your audience IS a liberal/democrat. It’s frustrating when people write terrible jokes with the punch line of “George Bush” or “Stephen Harper”, and I love it when people don’t laugh (which doesn’t happen as often as I would like). I was a student in a class at Second City Toronto, and the teacher would begin the class with a “What’s happening in the News” talk. It’s important for an improvisor or comedian to stay in touch with what’s happening in the world if we want to comment on it with our art. What would happen though, is the teacher in inevitably sum up each news event we talked about with his leftist slant. Perhaps I’ll never be employed by Second City, because a lot of their big wigs know I’m right-of-centre. That’s ok, there are other ways to succeed.

I wrote this joke a few years ago when I was trying out stand-up comedy:
Did anyone notice that American Politics is kind of like bad sex?
The Democrats are always pulling out too early,
and the Republicans are always trying to force there way into another Cunt-try.

Maybe it’s just my biased opinion, but I found people didn’t laugh until I made fun of the Republicans.

Look out for me, I’m going to be a famous actor/comedian with conservative values!

    Keep up the good work,
    Brian Reynolds
