Frequent readers and listeners if Strictly Right will know that I do not want to see Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate, simply because I don’t think she’s right for the job. However, unlike those on the Left, my discomfort with Governor Palin is not because of baseless attacks on her intelligence, but rather intellectual disagreement.
Either way, I think she does fantastically on FOX News, and her last book was awesome, so I’m pleased to report the release of her next one!
Sarah Palin’s new book has a title, “America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag,” and a release date, Nov. 23, publisher HarperCollins announced Tuesday.
The Alaska ex-governor and former GOP vice presidential candidate, whose memoir “Going Rogue” has sold more than 2 million copies, has been working on a tribute to American values.
It will include “selections from classic and contemporary readings that have moved her,” according to HarperCollins, along with “the nation’s founding documents to great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of her favorite songs and movies.”
The book is inspired not only by her “strong belief in the importance of family, faith, and patriotism,” but by some of the people she met last year while promoting “Going Rogue.” Palin skipped major cities such as Seattle and Los Angeles, traditional stops on most author tours, and instead focused on smaller communities more receptive to her conservative message.

I’m guessing the ghost-writer will just start transcribing some of her speeches from the past 6 months and publish them? I’m glad that she’s so successful at pissing off the liberals, but I agree that she’s not suited for the White House. She needs to present herself as a credible candidate and actually put forth policy ideas if she wants to be taken seriously.
As well, her supporters (I used to be one!) need to recognize that she appeals to no Democrats, to no independents, and to only a portion of the base. It’s a big portion, but not enough.
What “intellectual disagreements” do you have with the next president?
I haven’t hidden my hesitations with her. And I know that your response Ari will be that it’s okay to be the “party of ‘no!’” and I agree. However, Sarah Palin is not a politician, she’s a commentator. As a commentator, I would have expected to hear actual policies and plans articulated from her as opposed to rhetoric. I think she’s smart, and I know that her values are in line with what I believe, but she needs to prove it to the rest of America. She has surrounded herself with some dumb people in terms of advisers, like those who let her endorse Carly Fiorina for example.
And Dan, bingo! As much as people like to think that Palin will energize the Right and appeal to women on all ends of the spectrum, that’s simply not true. A huge majority of people see her as unqualified to hold office; and furthermore, even among conservatives her appeal is limited at the moment.
