Slouching Towards Gomorrah

“Slouching Towards Gomorrah” is the title of a book by one of the most brilliant jurists in history, and a man that should be on the Supreme Court – Robert Bork. In the work, Bork explains the evil that modern liberalism has wrought. A new Gallup poll shows that most Americans recognize the decline of moral standards in the country. While only 15% of respondents said they would rate the “overall state of moral values in this country today” as excellent or good, 45%  responded with the option of “poor.” Meanwhile, 76% of Americans believe that the state of moral values in the country is declining (14% say it is improving). Why is such a decline occurring?

Andrew and I discussed this topic  on Strictly Right Radio last week. The answer is that the overwhelmingly secular liberal agenda is destroying the bedrock of the United Sates. Alexis de Tocqueville said, “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” de Tocqueville credited America’s being good to its Judeo-Christian values. Today, the left, through the removal of God from public life, is destroying the country. The Supreme Court has banned prayer in school, and sanctioned the murder of the unborn. Activists judges are trying to remove “under God” from the pledge of allegiance. Feminists push their radical views of society on ordinary people. Abstinence is mocked, and “sexual experimentation,” whatever that means, is encouraged. Liberalism is a disease. It seeks to undermine all that has made the United Sates great over the last 230 years. Religion and absolute values are a hindrance to the advance of statism because they teach of an authority higher than the sate. As a result, the left has conducted a ceaseless campaign to discredit and undermine religion. It should be no surprise that as the left advances this agenda the country’s morals go t hell.

Obama Apology Tour Rolls On

From Powerline:

Posner said in addition to talks on freedom of religion and expression, labor rights and rule of law, officials also discussed Chinese complaints about problems with U.S. human rights, which have included crime, poverty, homelessness and racial discrimination.

He said U.S. officials did not whitewash the American record and in fact raised on its own a new immigration law in Arizona that requires police to ask about a person’s immigration status if there is suspicion the person is in the country illegally.

The ChiComs have killed tens of millions of their own people. The great leftist hero, Mao Zedong, the father of Chinese communism, makes Hitler and Stalin look like pikers. Mao was responsible for the deaths of 50 – 70 million people. His margin of error error is 20 million. Those a crimes no one can come close to. Since Mao’s death, the Chinese government has been characterized by rampant human rights abuses, intolerance of religion, and unchecked censorship of all critical media. The country is a prison state. While we are shown the major developed cities, we do not see the desolate villages where most Chinese people toil away on government owned collectives.

With that in mind, Chairman O sees fit to compare Arizona enforcing federal law, and the integrity of its own border to the genocidal claque that rules China. Arizona is overrun with illegal aliens. Phoenix has become the human abduction capital of the United States. Drug cartels run the border area, committing numerous acts of violent crime and causing significant ecological damage. In response, Arizona just wants to have the law enforced. This act is what the Obama kakistocracy (who’s top law enforcement official has NOT read the Arizona law) compares to the most murderous regime in human history. In 1988 George H. W. Bush said that Michael Dukakis  “sees America as another pleasant country on the U.N. role call somewhere between Albania and Zimbabwe,” meaning that he saw the United States as just another country. For Obama, The United States is not just another country, it is worse than other countries. Obama and the left see the Untied States, not communists or jihadists as the greatest purveyors of evil in the world. The idiotic comparison of Arizona’s immigration law to the policies of the Chinese is a shining example of Obama’s anti-America world view.

Caption Muhammad Contest!

We haven’t had a good contest in a while here on Strictly Right. So, we bring you….Caption Muhammad! Something you think the Qur’an missed when documenting the antics of the prophet? Leave it in the comments section! This contest will run for two weeks. Then, our dedicated panel of non-partisan judges (Ari and I) will choose the top five captions and put them to a vote!

The winner of this contest will receive a copy of Robert Spencer’s book The Truth About Muhammad. The runner-up will receive a limited edition “Victims of Che” poster to pay tribute to the fallen victims of communism. Caption away!

(Ari’s example was “You’d better put some ice on that.”)

Happy Anti-Something Day!

Once again, another day comes when we are supposed to united together and condemn or support an idiotic Leftist cause. Today, May 17th, that day is “International Day Against Homophobia.” (Presumably based on the U.N.’s record of irony, Iran was likely appointed the leading country for this cause.) As a pundit of sorts, generally my role is to take a somewhat coherent quote by a liberal, point out how idiotic it is, and then enjoy the rest of my day. The stupidity behind this day speaks for itself, however:

Few minority groups have been as discriminated against as the gays and lesbians. But major breakthroughs have occurred, and homosexual people are stepping out of the shadows.

Firstly, I hope that no homosexual person ever steps out of the shadows when I’m walking by…that could be a little creepy. Secondly, this is is a statement that proves Ann Coulter to be correct once again. As she said in a recent speech, “gays wish they were black.” Over and over again the gay community pretends that they have been forced into slavery (not counting the times they voluntarily get chained down,) were subject to gays-only water fountains,  had to overcome “homosexuals need not apply” signs, and ultimately that they have experienced and continued to experience some sort of systemic discimination that borders on genocide.

With the exception of gay marriage, there does not remain a single iota of evidence that gays experience any sort of discrimination from a governmental or political level. Of course, anyone who declares that they don’t think there needs to be an anti-homophobia day will, of course, be labeled as a homophobe. However, there remains a huge difference between supporting a goal and supporting a smoke-and-mirrors approach to attempting to achieve that goal.

I support any individual’s right to be gay, that doesn’t mean I think the government should pay $500,000 for a gay pride parade.

I condemn anyone who commits an act of violence against a person for their sexuality; but I don’t believe those instances should be used as an excuse to push through ineffective “hate crimes” legislation.

I oppose gay marriage because I believe that the government should be completely removed from marriage altogether; that doesn’t mean that I don’t support the right for gays to engage in civil unions or common-law partnerships.

To create a special day for an issue accomplishes nothing but gives people a platform to create for themselves a victim identity. As an incremental approach, I think we should just rename April 1st “Whiny Victim’s Day” and let all groups who perceive themselves to be victims get it out at once so that the other 364 days of the year can be filled with people not being pathetic.

Advice from Eric Holder: Rewrite the constitution

More intelligence from the Obama administration.

In a commencement address to the Columbia University Law School’s graduating class, Attorney General Eric Holder had some “interesting” commentary, saying that it was young people making changes to the constitution that brought about the end of slavery, gave women the right to vote, and several other examples. To “modernize” the legal system is one thing, but now we have a member of the President’s cabinet admitting fault in the constitution. Despite what they may think, the constitution is not a living, breathing document that needs to be changed and interpreted at every turn; it’s an unchanging, supreme law that should be accepted as is. I know what you’re thinking…what I just said is common sense, right? I thought so too.
