Bat Ye'or in Canada

Born in Cairo, Bat Ye’or found asylum in London as a stateless refugee in 1957 and became British on marriage, settling in Switzerland. Since 1971 she has written five books and scores of articles on non-Muslims under Islam, including The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam: From Jihad to Dhimmitude, Islam and Dhimmitude:
Where Civilizations Collide, and Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis, which described the gradual transformation of Europe into “Eurabia”. A highly sought-after speaker, she has presented at dozens of international conferences and symposiums, and given briefings to government legislatures, including the U.S. Congress.

Sam Solomon, a convert to Christianity and an expert on Islam, is a senior lecturer and research coordinator, a human rights activist and an advisor to British as well as European parliamentarians. Sam has authored a number of thought-provoking books and numerous articles on Christian Muslim relations.

Last week Hillary Clinton lamented that the rich are “not paying their fair share of taxes.” As anyone with half a brain knows, rich people pay the vast majority of taxes. Boy, it seems like old times, with the Clintons in DC, telling outlandish lies, hiking taxes, killing the economy, and trying to use the military for social experimentation. Anyhow, here is Reason TV’s Nick Gillespie dissecting the latest whopper from Hillary:

Could this be an LBJ/Cronkite moment?


Probably not – no one watches MSNBC, and even fewer care about what Chris Matthews has to say. However, it is something to see Mr. “tingle up my leg” take on Obama in such harsh words. To review, Matthews compared O’s handling of the Gulf oil spill to Jimmy Carter’s handling of the Iran hostage crisis. He said it was as big a disaster as what had to be done at Dunkirk.  Chrisy pointed out that Chairman O is “not taking ownership,” “not acting like it’s big time,” “not acting like a commander in chief,” “not a chief executive,” and that the Obama team is no more than an”idiotic cerebral meritocracy.” I don’t think I could have said it any better myself.

When Barack Obama says he wants judges who have “empathy,” is this what he means?

A perfect nominee. This nut has “empathy” for a serial killer rapist that has accepted his punishment – the death penalty. How about some empathy for the victims families? What does it say about the President when he nominates a judge to a federal appellate court that has “empathy” for a reprobate like Ross? Elections have consequences. When Democrats are in power they destroy the country piece by piece.

The New Capital Of The Free World

The best explanation for how Democrats see the United States came in 1988 when George H. W. Bush said that Michael Dukakis “sees America as another pleasant country on the U.N. role call somewhere between Albania and Zimbabwe.” Democrats do not understand American Exceptionalism – just ask them. Obama even said “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.” To the democrats, the United States is not a “Shining City on a Hill.” Instead, the United States is just “another pleasant country on the U.N. role call somewhere between Albania and Zimbabwe.” Need more evidence? How about this statement by Vice President Biden (I still cannot believe that I have to write that):

As you probably know, some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, DC as the “capital of the free world.” But it seems to me that this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title.

There you have it, crystal clear – the United States isn’t so great. In fact, Belgium is the actual “capital of the free world.” Why, Belgium is the headquarters for an enormous bureaucratic socialist nightmare no one wanted (the European Union), it must be the home of the free world! And who could forget Belgium’s defense of the free world over the last century? It’s not like the United States has expended enormous quantities of blood and treasure to defend the free world, including Belgium in the 20th and 21st centuries. Barack Obama is, as Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said the “first post-American president.” The Democrats do not appreciate the history of the United States – in most cases they disdain it. The Obama kakistocracy hate their own country, and they offer more evidence of this fact every day.

The headline on Drudge says it all “Obama redistribution Victory: Private Pay Plummets, Government Handouts Soar.” From the USA Today story:

Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds.

At the same time, government-provided benefits — from Social Security, unemployment insurance, food stamps and other programs — rose to a record high during the first three months of 2010.

Since the Obama regime has taken power, private wages have decreased from 44.6% of the United States’ personal income to 41.9%. At the same time, 8 million Americans have lost their jobs and become wards of the state. This is the Obama plan – to destroy the United States’ free market system and replace it with a European style welfare state – like Greece. Through programs like the stimulus package, Obama is enlarging the dependency class, people who are “paid for being rather than for producing,” as the Hoover Institute’s David Henderson said. These dependents have no incentive to go out and work. They can stay home and rely on government largess, funded by the shrinking percentage of Americans that still work. The dependency class is a permanent Democratic voting block, because the Democrats promise ever expanding benefits to dependents. This cycle of dependency and resulting unsustainable government spending is what brought down Greece, what is destroying Europe, and what is bankrupting the United States. Chairman O is waging an all-out war on the private sector, threatening to “keep his boot on the neck” of private companies. In reality, that boot is on the neck of the entire free market system, and is suffocating the republic.
