Back in February, Strictly Right’s own Ari posted the “greatest billboard in the history of mankind.” As much as I love George W. Bush, THIS billboard in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota takes the cake:

Back in the good ole’ days. There can be no other Reagan, that’s an unfortunate reality. However, I really hoped there wouldn’t be another Carter either but I was wrong on that one.

haha, i wasn’t old enough to appreciate what he was doing…but the history speaks for itself. a truly great man. it’s a shame his son is such a douchebag.

I must confess that as much as I love Reagan, I do think the modern Right has too big a love affair with him. He was great, he left a great legacy, but I have trouble seeing the logic in dwelling in the past as opposed to finding the NEXT Reagan

I agree that we ought to try and find the next conservative leader. What I would say is that the modern right looks at Reagan’s record and his timeless principles as a benchmark. Looking back at Reagan’s spectacular record will help us understand the right solutions for today’s problems.

I agree. I mean, Rachel Maddow at CPAC was mocking that conservatives admire Reagan. However, I feel that some (and it truly is a fringe group) tend to look at Reagan entirely and make everything about politics about him. I think we should accept that he’s the pillar of contemporary conservatism, and use him as the guiding light of conservatives in moving forward.
