When following CPAC from home I saw a slew of Tweets about some homophobe being booed. I assumed it was a matter of a jackass getting up to the microphone during a Q&A and ranting about CPAC allowing a gay conservative organization.
Alex at TwiceRight summed up this video best:
You won’t see this anywhere on the liberal media outlets. Why? Because this idiot was booed off stage for spewing his hatred of gay marriage, and that would mean Democrats would have to do more than just rely on identity politics since the Republicans are gaining support in the gay community.
Here it is:
Firstly, I’m not a supporter of “civil rights” for anyone. Civil rights were created in the 1960′s because the country wasn’t adhering to constitutional rights as they should have been. They were a necessity then; they aren’t now. The constitution quite clearly gives every one the right to do whatever the heck they want, as long as it doesn’t harm someone else or damage the public interests. Think what you want about homosexuality; but for me, as long as they don’t get married or adopt kids, I don’t care what they do. If there are gay conservatives who will support us on every issue except for one, it makes far more sense to accept that support and move on than to have a bunch of angry gay liberals (there are enough of them on Broadway as it is.)
The idiot from Young Americans for Freedom (not to be confused with Young America’s Foundation) isn’t spouting conservative philosophy, he’s spouting his own convictions, which, based on the 2 people applauding him in the crowd aren’t that common. I don’t condemn CPAC for anything. In fact, I applaud them for not cutting off his microphone. CPAC is a conference that recognizes individual liberties and freedoms in the name of the constitution, and one of those is freedom of speech and expression, even when people may disagree.
As for his rant about civil rights, well it takes a lot of effort to string together that many big words and still not make sense.
