Canadian MP speaks out against climate change

What do you know, looks like there are still some smart politicians (or one at least.)
Maxime Bernier a Canadian Member of Parliament from Quebec spoke out against the hoax of man-made global warming this week when he wrote a letter to a Quebec newspaper saying, “The debate over climate change, stifled for years by Political Correctness, has finally broken out in the media.” Bernier also went on to explain how there was no scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming, and that alarmism has accounted for the recent outcry of environmentalists.
Kudos to Bernier for having to guts to condemn a myth that science rejected years ago.

That’s fantastic! Hopefully Maxime will be able to sweep the rest of his caucus to join the cause as well.

I have never understood why the denial of anthropogenic global warming is a “strictly right” position. I struggle to see, but sometimes glimpse, how free markets and anti-abortionism hang together in a coherent political view, but this position just seems completely unrelated. Forgetting the policy decisions of what to do about global warming, what intellectual stake does conservatism have in the science of climate change?

Contrarian, skepticism of AGW isn’t a “left-right” issue, but rather a comment sense point of view stemming from the lack of science. Remember that the entire basis of the global warming argument relied on data presented by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change, which was seen to be forged. So, in light of that, why is there still even an argument in support of AGW? This is nothing to do with conservatism, it’s about right vs. wrong.

Conservatives oppose the hoax of AGW because it is a ploy used by the left to control every facet of peoples’ lives. While many well-meaning people have been duped, the leaders of the ‘environmental’ movement could not care less about the environment, they are committed socialists that want to cut the West down to size and ensure that we all live miserable lives in a communist dystopia.

Well, it seems that you two disagree about this.
Andrew: I want to believe you, but the subtext of my question was why, if what you say is true, do you write blog posts about it? I’m sure you have lots of “right vs. wrong” beliefs that you don’t bother to share on this blog because they’re irrelevant to conservatism. But if “this is nothing to do with conservatism,” why is it on Stricly Right?
My guess is because Ari is right. Well, right in his answer to my question, wrong on the facts, of course.
It’s been a while since I commented here, but I still don’t know which blogger I like more! Ari for your intellectual consistency, wit and mouth foam, or Andrew for your occasional path-straying and glimmers of hope that you might one day be right about something.
In any case, may you all live short, miserable lives in a communist dystopia.

We don’t disagree at all actually. The issue of whether or not man-made global warming exists is not a left-right issue, it’s a matter of science vs. speculation. What AGW actually means in government policy is a left-right issue. And the left sees it as an excuse to control people’s lives, which is what Ari mentioned, and what I brought up on our last radio show.
And pray tell how I show “path-straying?”

Sorry Andrew, but you wrote:
“skepticism of AGW isn’t a “left-right” issue, but rather a comment [sic] sense point of view stemming from the lack of science”
And Ari wrote:
“Conservatives oppose the hoax of AGW because it is a ploy used by the left to control every facet of peoples’ lives”
Ari is honest that AGW is a political issue for him, while you pretend to be some sort of scientifically inclined concerned citizen. I was just wondering why you’ve chosen to write about the science of *this* issue specifically, when there are so many other scientific controversies out there, and you gave a bullshit answer about how “this is nothing to do with conservatism, it’s about right vs. wrong” instead of giving Ari’s more honest (and nuttier) answer.

The fact remains that AGW is a hoax (see: climategate, among myriad other evidences). That is what Andrew was pointing out. Once it has been proven that AGW is a fraud, the question is why do some continue to propagate a hoax? The answer, which is what I had explained, is that the left sees it as a political issue it could exploit in order to progress their statist agenda.
