No, apart from being fascist dictators…they’ll all be addressing the Copenhagen conference on Climate Change this month! Apparently the general rule now is that if your credibility is damaged already from phony emails, hypocrisy a useless fear-mongering video, the best thing to do to restore it is to have three racist, anti-democracy, anti-freedom world leaders come and speak.

William Shatner gets served by Sarah Palin
Another Video for your enjoyment this weekend!
Please Help The World
“The American leader, who had been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: ‘Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.’”“He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.”
The softer side of Glenn Beck
Have $40,000 to kill?
If so, you should bid on the jacket that Sarah Palin wore for her book-jacket…

UWO Follow-up
I’m assuming a fair chunk of you read my post yesterday regarding the University of Western Ontario’s Student Council and their outrageous actions surrounding the child pornography incident on PrideWestern‘s website. As I mentioned, the content was removed (within hours, not minutes) While the content was removed, that’s most certainly not enough. The USC and PrideWestern need to offer a formal apology to the students of Western and to the community at large. By sweeping this under the rug, the USC is only furthering a grave problem that unfortunately exists around the world.
Regardless of who posted the images, the Student Council and PrideWestern are to blame for not removing them in a timely manner.
Update: 12/09/2009 – 12:35pm EST
PrideWestern has issued a formal apology on their website for the oversight surrounding this unfortunate issue. Kudos to their president Jonathan for his swift action and for not ignoring this issue.

Press Release I put out this morning about UWO Child Porn Incident
University student organization found with child pornography on website
LONDON, ON – Executive members of the University of Western Ontario’s Student Council and of Western’s Gay/Lesbian/Transgendered association PrideWestern were scrambling to correct a major problem this week when they were alerted to the presence of hundreds of pornographic images depicting children between the ages of six and ten years old on their website. These images were found on the organization’s online forum/message-board as part of their website, PrideWestern.ca. Local London blogger Andrew Lawton of StrictlyRight.com was the one who alerted PrideWestern of their mistake, causing them to remove the inappropriate and illegal content.
According to Lawton, he stumbled across the pornographic content while searching for information regarding PrideWestern’s status as an ‘essential service’ as opposed to a University ‘club.’ “When looking for something completely unrelated, I was shocked and disgusted to see that a University-sponsored website was housing such content. It was disturbing to say the least,” Lawton stated.
Immediately after viewing the content, Lawton claims to have called local police, as well as notifying the University Students’ Council administrators, who removed the content within several hours. While the content was removed, Lawton isn’t satisfied, posting on his blog this morning saying, “The [University Students’ Council] and PrideWestern need to offer a formal apology to the students of Western and to the community at large. By sweeping this under the rug, the USC is only furthering a…problem that unfortunately exists around the world.” He also said that “regardless of who posted the images, the Student Council and PrideWestern are to blame for not removing them in a timely manner.”
Andrew Lawton is a blogger on local, national, and international issues at StrictlyRight.com, and a student at the University of Western Ontario.

If only life was this simple…
Apparently it’s now orthodox to “ask” a judge to drop charges…when you’re a Liberal senator that is.
Sen. Raymond Lavigne of Ontario has been charged with breach of trust, obstruction of justice, and fraud over $5,000 (all indictable offenses). So, his lawyer has now kindly requested that the case be dismissed. The humourous part of this though is that he’s not claiming his client’s innocent, just that he should be acquitted on the grounds that he wasn’t informed of all the evidence they had against him.
Apparently Sen. Lavigne didn’t take too kindly to the fact that it was actually a Senate committee that was doing the investigation…and some strange reason, they didn’t want to give the transcripts of their meeting to the man they were investigating…shocking!
The Trial starts today, so I will keep you posted in the midst of fending off accusations that I have a personal vendetta against PrideWestern (yes people have nothing better to do than email me all the reasons they don’t like me. Though, thankfully the positive emails outnumber the negative ones)!
Congratulations Ontario, you just got tax-hiked!
Well, the time has come. It’s no big surprise that Harmonized Sales Tax bill passed through Dalton McGuinty’s majority Liberal government. I suppose that secretly I hoped a few of them would defect and vote against a bill that has absolutely no benefits, but alas that was just a pipe dream!
Now, for those astute readers, you’ll note that the HST is 13%, or GST (5%) plus PST (8%) so it’s no real increase. You’d be correct…except for the part about being correct. Certain items in Ontario such as certain food items, necessities, heating items, electricity-related knicknacks, etc. are only subject to the 5% GST, but are exempt from Provincial Sales Tax. That exception ends as of July 1, 2010 when the HST legislation kicks in. So, you’ll soon be paying a lump sum tax on everything, which includes the 8% tax hike on essentials.
Anyway, not really much we can do except to write angry letters to the Lieutenant-Governor, David C. Onley in hopes he can veto!
