New blog hits the web!

Being the brilliant blogger that I am (*cough*) I’m always on the lookout for the next greatest thing. A new Christian blog just started up that I happen to be involved with (okay I own it and am the sole writer) about a Christian’s journey through reading the Bible from start to finish. Think of it as a take-home Bible study course where you don’t need to read the Bible!

It’s located at http://www.thebiblejourney.com and is nonetheless entitled “Andrew’s Bible Journey” (Or just “The Bible Journey” to keep things objective).

Check it out and leave your comments!

The conservative-liberal dichotomy

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
If a liberal sees a foreign threat, he wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is Aboriginal , he sees himself as independently successful.
If a liberal is Aboriginal, he sees himself as a victim in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a liberal is down-and-out, he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
If a liberal doesn’t like a talk show host, he demands the show be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
If a liberal is a non-believer, he wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a conservative needs needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a liberal needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for it.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he’s in labor and then sues.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
If a liberal reads this, he will delete it and blame the messenger.

If both conservatives and liberals are looking for bad media reporting, they will both read the Globe and Mail.

Happy Columbus Day

It’s that time of the year again where after a couple of months back to school or work, people get to take a moment to reflect the history of Western Civilization and remember the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas on October 12, 1492. (In reality it’s actually October 21st though, but no need to dwell on the details).

This was a day where a Spanish explorer ended a long journey by stepping foot on soil that few had tread on before, and began a civilization from the ground up, one that was far superior to the failing and dying population already present.

As with any truly patriotic celebration, there are a select few who put up a stink out of their own stubbornness and refusal to acknowledge a great man in history. In this case, those are the American Indians.

I can’t help but see a parallel here between the American Indians and the East Indians. The East Indians were a failed population, they were dying young, getting sick, there was incest and rape among them, etc. The British population brought them food, support, supplies, and more importantly brought saftely and security to the nation. When the British Empire was no longer present in India, they were better off due to the legacy left by the European settlers. They were no longer the “savage” (to quote Rudyard Kipling) people they were before, but now a prosperous bunch. Their improvement after the British left had some saying “Oh but their gone now and we’re doing better that means they kept us back.” When in actual fact, it was because of that presence that they are bordering on superpower status today.

Going back to the Americas, we see a population that really didn’t know what was going on, who because of European settling has grown today to Canada, the United States, Mexico, etc. Let’s face it, the Native populations in North America today have been carried for centuries by the Europeans, because they were going nowhere without it. The life that you and I have today, all the reasons it’s great to be a Canadian or American are thanks to Columbus for his brave expedition, and the turnaround of the “New World.”

Nobel Prizes for sale, step right up!

Alrighty someone has to step up and call a spade a spade here about Barack Hussein Obama’s recent Nobel prize victory. Firstly, the nominations were in back in February before he had been in office a month…so he hadn’t really done that much (actually he hasn’t really done that much after nearly 9 months in office either).

This is one of those great moments in history where we look at these international bodies like UNESCO, the UN as a whole, Nobel Committee, etc. who have way too much power and authority in the world. Since Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize several years back, that would make Obama the second African-born communist to get it. Does that warrant international recognition and $1 million? Didn’t think so! My faith in the system was completely shot when Al Gore won.

On a more amusing note: Fidel Castro congratulated Obama…what does that tell you?

Ernesto Guevara: International Terrorist

Today is the anniversary of the death of history’s greatest coward, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara. ‘Che’ has become a symbol on a t-shirt. The shirts are worn by people who do not know the first thing about the barbarous Guevara.

Next time you see someone wearing a ‘Che’ shirt, ask them if they support this view of Guevara’s:

“The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent… We’re going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the Cuban revolution. By which I mean: nothing!”

Guevara was also instrumental in setting up Cuban concentration camps for ‘delinquents’ and homosexuals in Cuba. As the organizer of the La Cabana prison in Havana (think GULAG), Guevara ordered the executions of hundreds of people. Explaining these heinous crimes in his diary, Guevara wrote “To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary. These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution! And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate.” Hate is what motivated Guevara. He would go on to say “Hatred as an element of struggle; unbending hatred for the enemy, which pushes a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him into an effective, violent, selective, and cold-blooded killing machine — this is what our soldiers must become.” Guevara was an international terrorist and mass murderer. Wearing a shirt with his disgusting face plastered on it is tantamount to wearing a Hitler, Mao or Stalin shirt. Guevara and his band of communist thugs were beneath contempt.

Today communism is taught as an ideology that would work, if only human beings weren’t so ‘greedy.’ Claire Boothe Luce explained this infatuation that ‘intellectuals’ have for communism when she said “Communism is the opiate of the intellectuals with no cure except as a guillotine might be called a cure for dandruff.” In reality, communism killed over 100 million people in under one century, proving Rush Limbaugh Undeniable Truth of Life #10: communism kills. Everywhere the ghastly system of communism has been tried the results have been disastrous. It is the most dangerous affliction that has ever poisoned this planet.

Ronald Reagan once said that communism is “neither an economic or political system – it is a form of insanity, a temporary aberration which will one day disappear from the earth because it is contrary to human nature.” Noting the anniversary of Guevara’s death should remind us all of the horrors of communism – and embolden us to speak out the next time we hear some ‘intellectual’ prattle on about the inherent virtues of this fatally flawed system.
